Guershon Nduwa (1964) i am the president of the Black Jewish community in Europe and Africa and the surrounding region (FJN). I’m Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, born in Kinshasa. I went to Israel in 1988 to study Hebrew Civilization. I was welcomed and embraced by those i met in Israel. Now living in Paris, France.


In your opinion, what importance, if any, does the existence of a Jewish state have to you personally and to Jewish people in general?

“For me, the state of Israel is the only way of survival of the Jewish people, Israel must remain open and the listening of any Jew where he is….”

Do you feel committed in some way to defend the future existence of Israel?

“The Israel Defense is one of the conditions that must be shared by everyone.”

Do you affiliate yourself with a specific confessional division in Judaism? What is your view regarding the dominance of the Orthodox division in Israel religious establishment?

“The Jewish people are diverse, from around the world, the state must take into account the customs and habits of all Israel in its diversity and in practice each of Judaism.”

Do you feel morally responsible for Israel’s actions (such as its management of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict)?

“In the Palestinian conflict, the solution is two states but in this day, Palestinians have no leaders .”

In your opinion, what is the main thing Israelis fail to understand about the reality of being Jewish outside of Israel?

“Israel must listen to the Jews of the world in the solution of problems and the lives of Israeli.”

How would you describe Israel’s policy (formally and in practice) regarding its relationship with the Diaspora?

“The Jewish diaspora is a component of the state israel, israel must therefore be concerned for all without distinction.”

In your opinion, does Israel have an obligation to defend and help Jewish communities in need?

“After the Holocaust, Israel is obliged to help Jews in need.”

Have you ever been to Israel? 

“Yes, I have already been in Israel and I was proud to live there.

Can you tell us a bit about the Jewish community in your hometown? Is it organized? Are there community activities?

“In France, Jewish life is in danger, antisemitism is a danger to the Jews here.”
